I collect local materials to use in some of my slips and glazes. This creates a strong sense of connection to the surrounding landscape.

For surface decoration I layer dark and white slips onto pots in simple brush strokes to create the feel of movement under the glaze. I also create patterns with stamps or carve into the pot surface. My glazes usually consist of wood ash, clay and stone. I like to leave my pots partially unglazed to show the warm colours created by the path of flame.

My pots are raw glazed and once fired in a wood fired kiln. The firing usually takes around 15 hours after an initial pre-warming the night before.
