A Weekend Retreat with Linda Unsworth (potter), Siân Lester (textile artist) and Chajin Claire (Tea ceremony practitioner) 20 - 22 March 2026 (Friday 2-5pm, Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 10am-4pm) Harmony (“Wa” in Japanese) is the first principle of the tea ceremony, which represents the seamless balance between people, objects, and nature. Join us for a tactile journey of clay, cloth and tea, moving from raw material to ritual, guided by three artists/makers who believe that the objects we use should be as intentional as the moments we create with them. On this retreat, Linda will guide you through clay hand building techniques to make a ceremonial tea bowl which will be glazed and wood fired for you at a later date. To accompany your vessel, we will turn to the botanical world, exploring the alchemy of natural dyes with Siân creating a furoshiki cloth for your tea bowl, inspired by the traditional Japanese art of textile wrapping of gifts. During this creative journey we will immerse ourselves into the stillness of Cha Dao Tea Ceremony hosted by Chajin Claire. In Chinese “Cha Dao”, meaning “The Way of Tea”, often refers to a path of cultivating mindful presence, simplicity, and ultimately being in balanced harmony with nature and the view that all life is interconnected.  By limiting our retreat to just six participants ensures a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of space for one to one creative support and meaningful connection."
